We are pleased to announce the new collectible “Alumen” sculpture by Pøbel, related to his ongoing “Mute” concept. The sculpture consists of pure aluminium and is locally made in a limited edition of 36. Each sculpture is sanded, polished and painted, all by hand, to create unique surfaces. They have engraved numbering and come with a handmade and screen-printed birch box.
The screen-print is based on a photograph by Nima Taheri of a mute symbol that was painted by Pøbel in Xian Village, Guangzhou, China in 2015.
Pøbel’s Mute concept has been unfolding since 2010 with numerous artworks around the world, and currently a development of the construction of a 10 meter tall and 140 ton heavy Mute sculpture to be placed on the top of a mountain in Norway. The concept explores the symbolism and meaning of the well-known mute symbol when placed in different surroundings and settings, from the slums in China, Donald Trump’s star on Hollywood Boulevard, to the Norwegian wilderness, and now possibly even your own living room.
