About “Will Work For Food” by Pøbel – Original on canvas

Pøbel’s “Will Work For Food” originated in Stavanger, Norway as a 60x60m mural during the “Nice Surprise” art festival in 2023. It was painted on a contingency food storage silo, a structure designed for emergencies, stockpiling resources for times of crisis. The irony is unmistakable: a farmer, once the backbone of food production, now sits beneath this vast reserve, seemingly unemployed, or perhaps left behind by industrialized agriculture politics.

Is this a commentary on the precarious state of farming? A warning about the fragility of food supply chains? Or does it symbolize a broader societal shift, where self-sufficiency is increasingly out of reach? This piece invites reflection on our dependence on large-scale food systems and the potential consequences of economic, social or environmental upheaval.

This exclusive edition of 5 is a museum-quality original on canvas, signed and numbered by Pøbel. The rarity of this edition makes it a valuable collector’s item and a statement piece.

A powerful and rare artwork that holds a mirror to our times.

How does the Buyer Lottery work?
  1. To make a purchase, you must first participate in the buyer lottery by signing up within the specified timeframe.
  2. During registration, you will provide your name, shipping address, and payment details. The total purchase amount will then be reserved on your bank card until the lottery concludes.
  3. After the lottery ends, those drawn will receive an email confirming their purchase. If you’re not drawn, you’ll receive an email letting you know, and your reservation will automatically be released.

– Only one signup per person/household per product.
– Shipping address cannot be changed after entering.
– A number of prints have been set aside for an exclusive draw only for farmers.

Why a Buyer Lottery?

Pøbel typically offers a print release like this only once or twice a year, and in previous years, it has sold out right away. While this high demand has been a privilege, it has also created challenges, particularly, bots and those quickest to enter their details often secured purchases before everyone else.
Selling via a buyer lottery aims to provide a fairer opportunity for everyone. By signing up, everyone has the same chance to be selected for a purchase through a random draw.
